Outer Wilds on the Switch has received its second update since the game's launch, introducing performance enhancements, visual upgrades, and bug fixes to enrich the player experience.

When Outer Wilds was announced for the Switch last November, Nintendo fans were thrilled, anticipating the acclaimed game's arrival on their platform. However, upon release, the Switch version of Outer Wilds faced criticism for its graphical downgrades. While many fans understood the constraints posed by the Switch's hardware limitations, some expressed disappointment with the game's visual fidelity on the Nintendo platform. Fortunately, the latest update addresses some of these concerns, albeit with relatively minor changes.

Released on April 22, the Switch update for Outer Wilds focuses on improving visuals in several key areas. Enhancements include refining the water effects on Giant's Deep, enhancing the murals in the Old Settlement, fine-tuning holographic displays on Giant's Deep and the Vessel, and increasing the resolution of lighting effects in the fog of Dark Bramble. Additionally, the update addresses various bugs that had been causing frustration among players. For instance, it fixes issues like infinite load screens when exiting Echoes of the Eye and instances of areas appearing white with no item collision while playing the DLC.

Moreover, the update brings stability improvements to prevent issues during extended play sessions and undisclosed performance enhancements. Though specific details about these performance upgrades were not provided, players can expect a smoother and more stable gameplay experience.

The patch also includes numerous bug fixes aimed at enhancing immersion. These fixes range from preventing the Nomai shuttle from floating away after recall on Ember Twin to correcting instances of incorrect music playback during certain sequences in Echoes of the Eye.

While the next Switch update for Outer Wilds has not been officially announced by developer Mobius Digital Games, players can continue to explore the game's captivating universe and uncover its hidden secrets. Furthermore, PC players of Outer Wilds have the added benefit of accessing a variety of mods that enhance gameplay and introduce quality-of-life improvements, a feature not available to users on Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch platforms.
