Capcom's new action-strategy title, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, has been confirmed to launch without a physical version. Kunitsu-Gami is a unique game that blends elements of action-strategy, tower defense, hack-and-slash, and even some Pikmin-inspired gameplay.

The game's intriguing premise has garnered the interest of strategy game enthusiasts, many of whom are eagerly anticipating its July 19 release. However, when Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess launches, it will be available only in digital format, a decision likely to disappoint fans who prefer collecting physical copies of games.

The move towards digital-only releases is becoming more common in the video game industry, especially as the market continues to shift towards digital spaces. Although this trend is expected to grow, it doesn't mean all future Capcom games will lack physical releases. The decision for Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess to be digital-only may stem from its status as a smaller-scale, new IP rather than an entry in one of Capcom's established franchises.

When the game releases on July 19, it will be priced at $49.99. While this was once the standard price for new video games, it is now considered a budget price compared to the current norm of $70. This pricing strategy may also have influenced the decision to forgo a physical release. Despite the lack of a physical version, those interested in Capcom's latest offering can still try Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess without purchasing it, thanks to the availability of free trials.
