EA Sports College Football 25 reportedly reached over 700,000 simultaneous players on its first day of early access. This surge in popularity marks a significant triumph for the long-dormant sports franchise, which last saw an entry in 2013.

After years of attempts to revive the franchise, EA Sports College Football 25 is set to release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on July 19. The NCAA Football series enjoyed popularity in the 2000s and 2010s, but licensing issues caused an 11-year gap between NCAA Football 14 and the upcoming title. The extended wait seems to have fueled excitement, leading to widespread success even before the official launch.

Players who purchased the Deluxe Edition or the MVP Bundle have already begun enjoying the early access release. Recent reports indicate that over 700,000 gamers are currently online trying out the new game. These figures are particularly notable considering the game also features an offline mode, meaning even more players might be engaged without appearing in the official online count.

The game's popularity may also be influencing console sales, as it is not available for last-gen consoles or PC. Social media observations suggest a spike in console sales on platforms like Walmart. For instance, a post by Welfare_JBP highlights that Xbox Series S sales jumped from just over 100 units to over 1,000 during the early access release.
